Knoxville News Sentinel: Haslam, Cheek named to Pat Summitt Foundation’s advisory board

The Pat Summitt Foundation has announced a star-studded lineup of supporters named to a 13-member advisory board that will help guide the organization in its battle against Alzheimer’s disease. Jim Haslam II, founder and chairman emeritus of Knoxville-based Pilot Flying J, will chair the newly-established board, according to a news release. Joining the board as honorary co-chairs are WNBA All-Star and ESPN analyst Kara Lawson and NFL four-time MVP and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning — both former University of Tennessee student-athletes. Summitt, former UT women’s head basketball coach, was diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type, in May 2011, a month shy of her 59th birthday.
