KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee football great Peyton Manning signed a large, ceremonial check this afternoon and added a touching note at the Cherokee Country Club, officially gifting the Pat Summitt Foundation with its largest donation to date. “To Pat,” he wrote, “together we will win.” The $500,000 commitment, made by Manning and his wife, Ashley, is the largest gift so far to the Pat Summitt Foundation, which formed soon after the Lady Vols coach emeritus announced her Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis in 2011. Renewal by Andersen of Knoxville announces partnership with Rebuilding Together Knoxville

Renewal by Andersen of Knoxville announces partnership with Rebuilding Together Knoxville Renewal by Andersen celebrates 5th anniversary in Bearden with a month of service to the Knoxville community for National Rebuilding Together Month  KNOXVILLE, TENN., April 8, 2013 – Renewal by Andersen (RbA) of Knoxville is celebrating its fifth anniversary at its Bearden location by partnering with Rebuilding Together Knoxville (RTK) and other Knoxville businesses to rehabilitate a Knoxville resident’s home for National Rebuilding Together Month. In partnering with RTK, RbA will be helping fix up a deteriorating home, resulting in someone being able to remain in their house. In addition to helping repair the home, Rba will also   improve the energy efficiency and reduce the energy bills of a soon-to-be-named Knoxville resident’s home by installing new custom-made windows. “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our fifth anniversary than giving back to the Knoxville community by helping someone in our area,” said RbA of Knoxville President Bill Stone. “Rebuilding Together Knoxville is an excellent organization with a great national reputation and we could not be more thrilled to have this opportunity.” For Knoxville’s Rebuilding Together Month project, RbA, an ENERGY STAR Partner, is installing their custom-made windows. RbA’s windows begin with wood fiber, much of it reclaimed from the manufacturing of Andersen wood window products. The fiber combines with a polymer to form Fibrex material, which allows RbA to provide high-quality products at a lower cost to the homeowner and to the environment. Renewal windows contain energy efficient Low-E Glass which can be up to 56% more efficient in summer and 45% more efficient in the winter, compared to ordinary dual-pane glass, making homes more comfortable and saving customers money. “If we can make an owner’s home more efficient and save money that otherwise would have gone toward their energy bill, then it’s a terrific outcome,” said RbA’s Stone. “A little goes a long way.” “This will make a huge difference for the life of a Knoxville woman,” said Chris Bieger, President of Rebuilding Together Knoxville.   “We appreciate our partners Renewal by Andersen of Knoxville. With such great values I’m sure they will be celebrating many more anniversaries.” The partnership will be celebrated as part of RbA’s fifth year anniversary celebration at their Bearden location. The event will begin at 5:00 p.m on Thursday, April 11th at RbA’s showroom, located at 111 Northview Street. -30- About Renewal by Andersen of Knoxville Renewal by Andersen of Knoxville, an independent retailer of Renewal by Andersen, offers homeowners in the city of Knoxville and surrounding areas a variety of replacement window and door design options. MedPage Today: More $$$ Going to Medicare Advantage Plans

WASHINGTON — Payments to Medicare Advantage plans will increase by 3.3% in 2014, Medicare officials said late Monday. Officials at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) based the payment increase on the assumption that Congress will override scheduled cuts in physician reimbursements for an 11th consecutive year, the agency said. “The policies announced today further the agency’s goal of improving payment accuracy in all our programs, while at the same time ensuring program stability and preserving beneficiary choice,” Jonathan Blum, PhD, CMS’ acting principal deputy administrator, said in a press release. Unless Congress acts to forestall the cuts under Medicare’s sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula, which determines doctor reimbursements under the program, physician payments in Medicare will drop roughly 25% next year.
