HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, Nexus Energy Center and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs will be honored next week by the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.
The Sept. 17 Energy Huntsville meeting, which is part of SEEA’s regional Energy Pro tour, will recognize Battle, Nexus and ADECA for their support of the Alabama WISE (Worthwhile Investments Save Energy) home energy upgrade program.

“The city of Huntsville is very fortunate to have several companies committed to improving energy options for both residents and industry,” Battle said. “I am extremely proud of the many successes our Energy Huntsville partners, like Nexus Energy Center, have had in bringing awareness to energy programs, offering educational seminars on new technologies, and providing advocacy for policies that encourage future sustainable energy practices.”
Since its launch, Alabama WISE has produced almost 1,500 audits and up to 1,100 retrofits, which have saved customers nearly $300,000 annually and provided more than $6 million in revenues to local contractors.
Nexus, which operates WISE programs in Huntsville and Birmingham, is planning to expand to Tuscaloosa within the year. The Huntsville-based company has also expanded the network of in-state contractors through the Building Performance Institute.
